米 埔 發 現 來 至 南 韓 腳 上 繫 有 彩 色 環 的 黑 臉 琵 鷺 行 蹤
A recently hatched Black-faced Spoonbill that
was colour-ringed when it was still in its nest in North Korea during
the summer 1995, was seen at Mai Po on 4 November 2003. This bird is
interesting because it is the only confirmed individual to have been
recorded at three different wintering sites (Japan, Vietnam and Hong
Kong). This bird was also seen in autumn 2002, on almost exactly the
same date, i.e. 5 November. This Spoonbill is now 8 eight years old
and is the only known longevity record.
The colours of the plastic rings that have been
placed on its legs are red over green on the right leg, and yellow
on the left leg. The colours of these rings have become paler and it
can be seen as white for yellow ring, and blue for the green ring.
Therefore, care has to be taken when reading the ring colours of this
Spoonbill and also other colour-ringed Spoonbills.
The Black-faced Spoonbill Research Group is
collecting information on colour-ringed Black-faced Spoonbill occurring
in Hong Kong. If you see any spoonbill with colour rings, please record
the date, place, ring number (some birds carrying rings with numbers),
colour of rings and send it to bfspoonbill@hkbws.org.hk
