This year is the third year
for the EPSON Foundation to support the dolphin programme. Since 1999, EPSON Foundation
has been the sole sponsor of the EPSON "Our Dolphin" Programme (Previously known
as EPSON Adopt-A-Dolphin Programme). This generous sponsorship has allowed the
continuation of the time-consuming research project that endeavours to witness
as much of the dolphins' daily lives as possible. For a species which spends a
mere 10% of its day on the surface, many hours must be spent at sea so meaningful
observations can be made. |
 |
The core of this detailed study
is to identify individual dolphins and monitor their progress as they develop
and age. The reports from this detailed study not only allow foster parents a
glimpse of dolphin lifestyles but also provide the foundation upon which effective
management and conservation measures can be built. Only by knowing what dolphins
do, where they do it and what factors within the environment affect them can we
truly begin to understand them and thus ensure their survival in our waters. |
 |
This year's EPSON "Our Dolphin"
Programme will produce an Environmental Information CD-ROM for the Primary School
Teachers. This will include a seminar for teachers to learn how to use the CD-ROM
as an effective education tool to teach their students about dolphins. This will
be followed by 3 field trips to observe dolphins in the wild. The benefit of using
a CD-ROM is that much more educational information can be included and thus reducing
paper wastage and making it a fitting tool for a conservation project. |
 |
As a corporate sponsor, EPSON
integrates environmental responsibilities into its corporate objectives and work
ethics, and has been actively striving to meet high conservation standards to
fulfill its obligations to be a good corporate citizen. They have devoted themselves
to the cause of conservation by ensuring that all operations in the production
processes are conducted in an environmentally sound manner. Moreover, they actively
promote and participate in environmental protection projects. |
|
Once again, thank you EPSON for
the continued support. |
