With the aim of collating a wide array of information on the Pearl River Delta, which could be used to produce a comprehensive synthesis of information, the Pearl River Delta Scoping Study was part of a long-term conservation objective to protect the freshwater biodiversity of the delta.
The Education component offered a capacity building training programme for teachers in South China to enable them to effectively teach education for
sustainable development (ESD) in local schools. Trained teachers from nine different schools implemented the school-based ESD programmes successfully. This marked the success and start of WWF’s ESD multiplier programme in South China.
