Individual Action

Even the slightest change in your eating habit is vital to the future of our oceans. When you shop or order a meal, refer to the Seafood Guide and stay away from the species listed under "Avoid". Always ask for information such as the origin and harvesting method to determine seafood sustainability. Whenever you organise a meal, remember to choose restaurants with the “Ocean-Friendly Menu”.

Corporate Action

The business community is Hong Kong's economic driving force and corporate policies always have a decisive impact on nature. Due to the strong interest from different sectors of the community, "Corporate Social Responsibility" has become a business concept that no company can afford to ignore. WWF can provide advice on the formulation of seafood dining policy for your business. In addition, WWF offers two distinctive programmes which enable any corporate business to support the “Seafood Choice Initiative” and become a role model for the industry.

School Action

The next generation will bear the consequences of our actions today. As an educational institution, you can introduce sustainable seafood menus for student lunches by following the Seafood Guide and asking your caterer to exclude species on the "Avoid" list from student lunch menus. Promote the concept of sustainable seafood to students and their parents to help spread the message of marine conservation. WWF has launched the “Sustainable Seafood School Catering Programme” to assist schools in getting the message across.

Restaurant Action

The concept of sustainable seafood is becoming more and more popular among consumers and they are increasingly asking for alternative choices that comply with sustainability principles. This emerging trend is transforming the catering industry. It is now your turn to respond to the public demand and stop the degradation of marine ecosystems. WWF can provide advice on sustainable seafood sourcing and further facilitate the development of “Ocean-Friendly Menu” to provide alternative seafood choices for the public.

Supplier Action

Seafood suppliers have an important role to play in the sustainable seafood movement to restore our once abundant marine resources. By sourcing and providing sustainable seafood, you can help restaurants and the public to make a wiser choice. WWF has designed the “Ocean-Friendly Catalogue” programme to assist seafood traders in responding to the public’s calls for sustainable seafood.
