Hoi Ha Wan - Education and Research

Secondary School Programme

These programmes enable secondary school students to learn about the marine environment through on-site interactive experiments and activities. Students are able to learn the importance of marine ecosystems and the challenges they face, through a series of activities. Three different modules have been designed for different levels of students, each with differing teaching objectives.

1. Marine Discovery

This centre-based marine education programme is specially designed for junior secondary students. The programme covers different aspects of the marine environment, such as physical features, coral communities and associated marine life. Upon completing this programme, students will be better equipped to explore and understand the wonders of the Hong Kong’s underwater world.

2. Who wants to be an Oceanographer?

This centre-based education programme is for senior secondary students. Students will receive practical ‘hands-on’ experience of marine science, which they cannot obtain in the classroom. The activities include various oceanography experiments and observations aimed at understanding the importance of the elements in the complex marine world.

3. Who wants to be a Coastal Ecologist?

This programme focuses on the study of coastal organisms and their development. Students will be able to investigate the inter-tidal environment such as rocky and sandy shores, mangrove community through a series of field studies.
