These programmes enable secondary school students to learn about the
marine environment through on-site interactive experiments and activities.
Students are able to learn the importance of marine ecosystems and the
challenges they face, through a series of activities. Three different
modules have been designed for different levels of students, each with
differing teaching objectives.
1. Marine Discovery
This centre-based marine education programme is specially designed for
junior secondary students. The programme covers different aspects of
the marine environment, such as physical features, coral communities
and associated marine life. Upon completing this programme, students
will be better equipped to explore and understand the wonders of the
Hong Kong’s underwater world.
2. Who wants to be an Oceanographer?
This centre-based education programme is for senior secondary students.
Students will receive practical ‘hands-on’ experience of
marine science, which they cannot obtain in the classroom. The activities
include various oceanography experiments and observations aimed at understanding
the importance of the elements in the complex marine world.
3. Who wants to be a Coastal Ecologist?
This programme focuses on the study of coastal organisms and their development.
Students will be able to investigate the inter-tidal environment such
as rocky and sandy shores, mangrove community through a series of field
studies.
