JNC Nature Fund

MF Jebsen International Ltd has joined forces with WWF to set up the JNC Nature Fund. Initially the Fund will be used to help conserve Hong Kong’s Marine environment by increasing the capacity and broadening the scope of the educational programmes offered at the Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre.

Firstly, through the support of JNC Nature Fund WWF has doubled the number of programmes delivered to school children by the Centre in the last year and this number will continue to increase over the next few years. Over 3,300 school children are due to have participated in marine conservation programmes during 2005. In order t o broaden WWF’s target audience, a number of new programmes will be developed and trialled including primary school, teacher, “train the trainer", adult and donor education initiatives. Secondly, WWF will also establish the use of the Centre by university students for their study and research programmes and as a Centre of Excellence offering training and experiential activities to the WWF network, other NGO’s and government conservation agencies. Lastly, with the backing of JNC Nature Fund the Centre will be used to monitor marine protected areas in the locality and to facilitate workshops and conferences on regional marine conservation.

In recognition of their contribution to marine conservation, MF Jebsen was recently awarded a Conservation Medal at the WWF Corporate Membership Ceremony. MF Jebsen acknowledged that “by supporting WWF everyone can help protect Hong Kong’s remaining Natural Environment with all its biodiversity, and everyone in and around Hong Kong benefits"
