What can you do?

Hopefully, through financial encouragement the fishermen can be encouraged to continue the traditional management practices which is beneficial to fishpond. Moreover, the programme also aims to involve the wider community in Hong Kong so as to support the fish pond community and to enhance the public awareness on fish pond farming.

enhance the ecological value of Mai Po and fish pond;
support the sustainable development of Pond Fish Farming Community around Mai Po;
be involved in maintaining the balance between economic income and ecological value of the fish ponds;
preserve a rare cultural heritage in Hong Kong;
