Wetlands and Waterbirds Conservation Academic Seminar | Black-faced Spoonbills

The first Fujian-Hong Kong Wetlands and Waterbirds Conservation Academic Seminar

The first Fujian-Hong Kong Wetlands and Waterbirds Conservation Academic Seminar jointly organized by Fujian Forestry Administration, WWF Hong Kong and Fujian Wildlife Conservation Association from 23 to 27 April 2003, was successfully completed in Fuzhou.

20 units from WWF Hong Kong, Xiamen University, Third Institute of Oceanography, SOA, Fujian Teacher University, Fujian Agricultural University and Fujian Forestry Administration sent over 60 experts and scientific researchers to join this seminar, and altogether 27 essays were collected. Fellow Lin Peng from Xiamen University, Dr. Lew Young from WWF Hong Kong and Mr. Huang Zhongguo from Third Institute of Oceanography, SOA respectively reported their research findings in recent years. Participants also exchanged their studies results regarding the Fujian wetland waterbirds survey held from Jan to April 2003, and discussed about the conservation plans and protection measures of important Fujian coastal wetlands. They also conducted a field trip at the Minjiang Estuary and discovered 7 Black-faced Spoonbills.
