Winning team - Professionals Team.
The Big Bird Race 2004, organised by WWF Hong Kong on 28 February, reached a climax on Saturday night after an exciting 18-hour bird-spotting challenge around the Hong Kong territory.

The winning teams were the Professionals Team recording 139 species of birds. The second place in the Race went to the Eagles Team with 135 bird species recorded and the third place went to Kadoorie Cuckoos Team with 133 species recorded. The total number of bird species spotted this year is 206.

The Race, inaugurated in 1984, aimed to buy up Mai Po gei wais for management and build bird hides. Fund raised this year will be used for continuing our management works at Mai Po. The temporary closure of Mai Po Nature Reserve to the visitors has seriously impact our financial situation with an estimated loss of HK$500,000 per month, notwithstanding other fundraising events that are supposed to be carrying out in Mai Po.
