WWF HONG KONG ORGANIZES EPSON 'SAVE OUR DOLPHINS' EDUCATION SEMINAR AND WORKSHOP

WWF Hong Kong launched the EPSON 'Save Our Dolphins' Education Programme and organized a seminar on 7 February 2004 to broaden the knowledge of the primary school teachers on Chinese White Dolphins.


Dr. Lindsay Porter, WWF Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Officer, introduced the Chinese White Dolphins in the Hong Kong waters.
Dr. Lindsay Porter, WWF Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Officer, and Dr. Paul Shin, Department of Biology and Chemistry, City University of Hong Kong, gave presentations on the conservation of local marine environment and Chinese White Dolphins. Suggestions on the ways to carry out the environmental education programme in the schools were also made by Mr. To Sai Wah from Tack Ching Primary School, together with the introduction of The EPSON "Save Our Dolphins" education CD ROM.

With the generous support of EPSON Foundation, WWF Hong Kong has developed the EPSON "Save Our Dolphins" Programme to continue our dolphin research projects and education programmes.

"EPSON Foundation is happy to continue our support to the EPSON 'Save Our Dolphins' Programme which we consider is a highly effective tool to help raise public awareness about the plight of this valuable yet vulnerable species. We hope, with the introduction of the CD-ROMs, to raise the awareness of the teachers and students on Hong Kong's marine resources as well as to enrich student's learning experience through active participation, " said Mr. Willie Wong, Deputy General Secretary, EPSON Foundation.

WWF Hong Kong EPSON "Save Our Dolphins" is an Environmental Education Programme for primary school teachers. The programme includes a seminar and three teacher training workshops with dolphin boat trips to allow teachers to observe the behaviour of the Chinese White Dolphins in the wild. The education CD ROM will be distributed to all primary schools in Hong Kong. For enquiries, please contact us at 2526 1011.

Dr. Paul Shin, Department of Biology and Chemistry, City University of Hong Kong gave a presentation about local marine conservation.

Mr. To Sai Wah from Tack Ching Primary School shared the experience of carrying out environmental education programme in primary school.
