WWF Earth Hour 2012
The annual global ‘Lights Out’ event for Earth Hour 2012, which takes place at 8:30pm on Saturday, 31 March, is fast approaching. WWF-Hong Kong is keen on helping everyone get ready for this significant night and to “Go beyond the hour”. WWF has prepared a variety of fun activities and items to help the public live a sustainable lifestyle every day.
The promotions for Earth Hour 2012 are listed below:
Earth Hour QR code
To encourage people to join this meaningful act together on 31 March, WWF has launched the Earth Hour QR code, which is included in all Earth Hour marketing collateral.
People can sign up for Earth Hour conveniently by just scanning the QR code with their smartphones.
Upon registration, each person will receive a special edition Chocolate Rain X Earth Hour wallpaper and have the Earth Hour date and time marked on their calendar.
Clover seed Earth Hour bookmark
Made from FSC certified paper, the bookmark comes with a piece of seed paper that will grow into a clover with water and sunshine.
Two ways to receive the bookmark
1) Available at all Circle K stores upon donation of HK$10 to WWF during March.
2) After pledging to support Earth Hour at wwf.org.hk/earthhour, you will receive our weekly eNewsletter. You can help promote the Earth Hour message to your family and friends by forwarding the eNewsletter to five recipients. The first 500 ‘forwarders’ will receive a clover seed Earth Hour bookmark.
WWF Kids x Earth Hour Light Switch Plate Design Competition
To encourage the young generation to practise energy saving in daily life and showcase their creativity, the WWF Kids website has launched a competition inviting primary school students to create their own light switch plate.
After learning how to make a light switch plate on WWF Kids (wwf.org.hk/kids), participants will be able to create their own plate to help everyone set their energy saving target.
Five winners will be awarded an eco-friendly stationery gift set and a USB drive, or species 3D puzzles, and a specially designed certificate.
Visit wwf.org.hk/kids for competition details.
Deadline of application: 20 April (Friday)
WWF Kids website is sponsored by Canon Hongkong Company Limited.
“I Will If You Will” challenge
WWF-Hong Kong is going to launch the “I Will If You Will” challenge to encourage people to set their own energy saving target. You can pick your challenge from the three energy saving menus (3%, 5% and 10% energy saving targets) designed by WWF, and inspire others to take their own challenge.
After choosing the menu and submitting your photo or slogan, the top 5 voted challengers will be awarded WWF’s gifts with Earth Hour ambassador Kay Tse’s autograph.
Dare the world to save the planet! Set your own target and check out how the DJs from Commercial Radio 2, Donald Tong, Amber Au and Danny So set and achieve their energy saving goals in “My 10 days”!
