WWF Celebrates Opening of New Visitor Centre in Central
Upon opening the centre, Mr Adam Koo, Chief Executive Officer of WWF-Hong Kong said, “We are excited to open the new Visitor Centre which aims to create a walk-in centre for members of the public and our supporters to learn about WWF’s mission and how we accomplish it. It is located in the city-hub and provides environmental resources and ancillary to those resources, offers eco-friendly items that carry the WWF’s message. They help integrate green concepts into our daily life.”
WWF was equally delighted to announce the winner of “(My)#WWF Photo Contest”, Ms Esther Wong at the opening ceremony who commented “I am so happy to deliver the WWF message through my photo and have received positive feedback from the public.”
Local band “Mr.”, singer Ms Eman Lam and Ms Stephanie Cheng also shared their own (My)#WWF photos. Alan Po, vocalist of “Mr.” said, “Everyone can live a sustainable lifestyle, using eco-products or having a small plant in your office is the easiest way to begin.”, “Get your favorite cutlery and prepare your own meal at home. Say no to disposable cutlery.” Eman shared.
To celebrate the opening of WWF Visitor Centre, WWF also launched the limited edition tees created by well-known Hong Kong designer and illustrator Ms Dorophy Tang. These striking new tees are made with organic cotton and come with six “POPCORN POP” characters designed and donated by Dorophy herself. Each POPCORN POP character is depicted wearing a different endangered animal costume. The characters promote an urgent conservation message: the need to protect threatened and endangered species.
The visitor centre offers a range of environmental-friendly items, including household products, stationery, apparel, eco-gadgets and accessories that carry the WWF message. These items not only raise public awareness about environmental conservation, but may help integrate green living into our daily lives. All proceeds from visitor centre items go towards supporting WWF’s conservation and education work.
