"Friends of Mai Po" Mai Po Volunteer Programme (Second Roll Call)

Mai Po Nature Reserve – ‘Really wet and wonderful’

The wetlands surrounding Mai Po and Inner Deep Bay in the north-western part of Hong Kong, are renowned as a haven for both migratory and wintering waterbirds, as well as a refuge for a diversity of other wildlife.

In 1984, WWF Hong Kong began to carry out active management inside the Nature Reserve for environmental education and conservation purposes and today, it has become a centre for wetland education, research and monitoring, a practical example of wetland conservation and management.

Become a “Friends of Mai Po” or “Friends of Mai Po” volunteer leader, making a difference!

WWF is now recruiting volunteers and volunteer leaders to help us manage and conserve the wetland inside Mai Po Nature Reserve. This will give you many opportunities to:

  • Helping in nature appreciation activities in Mai Po;
  • Try field work inside Mai Po and help in our wetland management tasks;
  • Being a scientist and participate in wetland research and monitoring.

Recruitment will be divided into different stages, updated information will be put into WWF Hong Kong’s website frequently.

For the job duties of the volunteer leader, you can:

  • Coordinating volunteers from “Friends of Mai Po” ;
  • Lead the volunteers to do the volunteer work twice a month during weekend ;
  • Provide training to the volunteers who might involve in Wetland Management, research & monitoring, interpretation for the public visitors

The deadline of the volunteer leader application will be on 25th August 2006. Please read the leaflet for details.

Join us and play your part in protecting nature. Your support is vital in helping us achieve our mission. Together we can leave a living planet for our children.
