Mai Po Nature Reserve – ‘Really wet and wonderful’
The wetlands surrounding Mai Po and Inner Deep Bay in the north-western
part of Hong Kong, are renowned as a haven for both migratory and wintering
waterbirds, as well as a refuge for a diversity of other wildlife.
In 1984, WWF Hong Kong began to carry out active management inside
the Nature Reserve for environmental education and conservation purposes
and today, it has become a centre for wetland education, research and
monitoring, a practical example of wetland conservation and management.
