WWF’s response to the seizure of illegal import of suspected scheduled shark fins by AFCD

The news again reinforces the high legal risk that shipping companies have to bear to carry potentially illegal shark fin continuously. Such risk is likely to increase further, as more shark species will be considered to be scheduled into CITES lists this September.

We call on all shipping companies to follow the lead of 16 global leaders in the industry to impose a ban on shark fin shipment immediately.
